Mare Barrow:The main protagonist, the 17-year-old Mare is a Red who steals for living

Tiberias "Cal" Calore VII:The eldest son and heir of King Tiberias Calore VI through his first wife, Coriane Jacos

Maven Calore:King Tiberias VI' second son through his second wife, Elara Merandus

Tiberias Calore VI:The current king of Norta who has married twice, producing two sons: Cal and Maven

Elara Merandus:The mysterious and sadistic current queen of Norta and the mother of Maven.

Julian Jacos:  royal librarian and the brother of Cal's mother, Coriane, making him his uncle.

Gisa Barrow: Mare's younger sister.

Kilorn Warren: Mare's best friend and an apprentice of fishing. Mare seems content to eventually become his wife, until her engagement with Maven makes them drift apart.

Diana Farley: A captain of the Scarlet Guard who leads them in the campaigns against the Silvers.

Evangeline Samos: A haughty girl who is made Cal's fiancée after being declared the best of the aspiring princesses.

Lucas Samos: Evangeline's cousin who like her holds the power of magnetic manipulation. He is one of the few Silvers whom Mare befriends and trusts with uncertainty.

I as a young adult, recomend this book full heartedly. It brings two whole different worlds together Fantasy and Reality. I also recommend using a audio book while reading. I believe that it brings the story more to life and makes it more fun for the reader. Victoria Aveyard was able to create a world of non fiction, that comes to life as soon as you read it. It shows you how nothing could turn into something and how love can turn to hate in moments.
